Overview

The Ramona Theatre opened in late October 1929 with Gold Diggers of Broadway (1929) Link opens in new window starring Nancy Welford and Conway Tearle. Before the movie there was a newsreel, a vaudeville film presentation, and a comedy act.

At its opening the theatre was hailed as “The Showcase of the Southwest”. The architect for the Ramona, George Kadane, must have liked his work as he maintained his office in the second floor of the building.
