A 1920s cinematic experience like no other event offered in the historic Avalon Casino Theatre. Come celebrate the 100th Anniversary of The Phantom of the Opera (1925) !
One hundred years ago, The Phantom of the Opera set the standard for cinematic horror, combining groundbreaking visuals with Lon Chaney’s legendary performance. Its influence can still be seen in film and theater today, including the award winning Broadway musical, reminding us of the power of silent cinema to captivate and haunt audiences. Prior to the screening, 3-D wizard Eric Kurland will present very rare 3-D production photos of the film.
The Phantom of the Opera will be accompanied with a world premiere of a new score composed and performed by Michael D. Mortilla and some of the best musicians in the country.
Randy Haberkamp, Executive Vice President of the Library, Archive and SciTech for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will introduce the film.
