American South

Louisville Palace Theatre

The 3,300-seat Loew’s and United Artists’ State Theatre opened in early September 1928, the first Atmospheric theatre in the state of Kentucky. The theatre was designed by noted theatre architect John Eberson with the auditorium being given a Spanish baroque garden theme.

Poncan Theatre, Ponca City

The 1,200-seat Poncan Theatre was designed by theatre architect firm the Boller Brothers in a Semi-Atmospheric style and opened in September 1927 as a vaudeville and movie theatre for a reported cost of $280,000.

State Theatre, Lexington

The 950-seat State Theatre opened in April 1929, designed by architect firm Frankel and Curtis in the Atmospheric theatre style with a Spanish castle theme.
